have a little faith in me

I am teaching Yoga today. Since my class is in the evening, I take this time to do some Yoga – asana, pranayama, meditation – and maybe do some light reading and reviewing. I spend a lot of time keeping my intention in mind – intention for my life, for my students, for my day.

Today, however, was different. I didn’t get up and listen to Joel Osteen on TV. He was on TV talking but I didn’t pay much attention. FOX News Sunday came on. I payed attention to the show and liked it but I wasn’t present and in the moment. My mind was not on thinking or anything mental.

My mind was on doing.

I prepared my breakfast. I finished updating my blogroll for this site and I’m going to update www.dorightforyourself.org – something I should have done a long time ago. I cleaned my house a bit. I’m blogging.

On this day of rest, I am motivated. I am focused and concentrating on doing. My mind is resting in the comfort of action and I have prayer to thank for this.

Prayer has shown me:

  • gratitude in even the smallest of opportunities
  • content in being able to have the opportunity present itself to me – whether it follows through or not
  • appreciation in the knowledge that I need to be active in order for the opportunity to become something more.

An opportunity is but a door or a window to a goal. Opportunities can fall in your lap but if you don’t look at them and do something about it, it will slip through your fingers like silk. Even the massive length of your lap could not hold it, nor will your hands be able to grasp it. Opportunities are, at times, like gossamer wings. So delicate, floating like the wind.

Being able to take an opportunity and make it concrete takes effort. It takes faith. Even if an opportunity does not provide a goal, that does not mean that it still doesn’t provide a lesson to be learned. Faith and prayer allows you to see the lessons, understand them and transcend.

Just like Meditation. :D

How can you Meditate in Action? How can you have one pointed focus and concentration to take an opportunity and make it into a reality? Whichever way you do it, which ever way works…is fine by me.

Now it’s time for me to get some more things done. Talk to you soon.

Until next time…stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease! (l)
